Depilation with needle epilation works with high-frequency current, which is why it is also called electroepilation. A sterile needle or probe is inserted along the hair shaft to the hair root, where it emits an electrical impulse. This causes what is known as thermolysis: the root is sclerosed by the heat generated and thus destroyed. This means that the hair can no longer grow back. Since the needle must be guided very precisely in order to reach the root effectively, this method of hair removal should only be performed by competent personnel such as the specialists at Dermacare.

Areas of application of needle epilation

Effective hair removal with needle epilation is an excellent method especially for particularly stubborn or light hairs as well as hairs that are difficult to remove. Especially light or even white hairs cannot be removed with other methods such as laser depilation, as they do not contain any dye, which these treatments target. Moreover, electroepilation can also be used in sensitive areas such as moles, tattoos or the face. Before the treatment

For the needle epilation, the hairs to be treated must have a length of 2-3 millimeters. Therefore, do not shave or epilate directly beforehand. You can prepare the skin for the upcoming electroepilation with a peeling and a moisturising cream to prevent skin irritations.

The needle epilation

During the needle epilation itself, our specialists wear magnifying glasses and guide a very fine gold needle, the probe, precisely along the hair shaft to the hair root. There, they trigger the electrical impulse, which obliterates the root through the heat that is generated. The hair is then removed with tweezers. This process takes about 5 to 10 seconds per hair. For patients who are sensitive to pain, we apply an anaesthetic cream before the treatment. Since with this method of permanent hair removal, similar to others, only those hair roots can be destroyed that are currently in the growth phase, several sessions are necessary for a satisfactory result. Depending on the hair colour and thickness, this means an average of 4 to 6 treatments.

After the treatment

After the treatment, small crusts may form on the skin. These should not be scratched off under any circumstances, as otherwise scars may form. In the next few days, direct sunlight, heat and moisture must be avoided. Therefore, we do not recommend going to the sauna or swimming pool. Cosmetic products can be used again on the treated areas after about 2 to 3 days.
