Frequently asked questions

In this procedure, a sclerosing agent is injected into the spider veins, producing a local inflammatory reaction that the client cannot feel. This causes the vein walls to stick together, and the spider veins disappear. With this method the spider veins must be large enough for the treating doctor to sclerose them with a cannula. Slight pain may temporarily occur at the injection site. A burning sensation may also occur. After the procedure it is necessary to wear a pressure bandage or compression stocking. In addition, unsightly brown marks may form on the skin under certain circumstances.

Treatment with the fractional laser, based on the skin's natural capacity for regeneration, is regarded as one of the most modern methods of skin renewal and skin tightening. The laser beam works on the skin at individual points, with the energy of the laser split into a thousand tiny dots; while the upper layer of skin is gently removed, the laser also penetrates into deeper layers of skin. The thermal effect of the laser promotes the formation of new collagen fibres and stimulates skin renewal, which refines the skin structure; pigment spots disappear, and scars and fine lines are visibly reduced, depending on severity, after the very first application.

Botox (botulinum toxin or BTA) is a naturally occurring bacterial protein. It is secreted by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum and isolated through complex purification steps. Botulinum toxin is used in aesthetic medicine to smooth wrinkles in the face, neck and décolletage and for treatment of increased sweat gland activity. In addition, Botox is very successful for migraine attacks.

The vessels shrink when heated and a visible effect can be seen immediately. The Alma long pulse 1064nm Nd:YAG laser we use is considered one of the most effective lasers for the treatment of spider veins.
