Suitable for

  • People with moderate hooded eyelids or slight skin laxity
  • Anyone who wants a gentle, non-invasive method of rejuvenating the eye area
  • Patients who prefer a short downtime

Please note

  • With pronounced hooded eyelids or a significantly restricted field of vision, the surgical upper eyelid lift is usually the better choice
  • For an optimal result, several sessions may be advisable

Why choose an upper eyelid lift without surgery?

How the laser works on the upper eyelid, how treatment and healing proceed and what applies to pronounced hooded eyelids.

Nowadays, many people are looking for non-invasive ways to improve their appearance – at Dermacare Vienna, this is possible.

Dermacare offers its patients an upper eyelid lift without surgery using modern CO2 laser technology. This method makes it possible to gently tighten sagging upper eyelids and noticeably rejuvenate your appearance – entirely without a scalpel.

Upper eyelid lift without surgery with the CO2 laser is a revolutionary method that makes it possible to tighten the skin of the upper eyelids without surgical intervention. The CO2 laser works precisely, removes excess skin cells and at the same time stimulates the production of collagen, which firms and smooths the skin in the long term. Compared with the traditional surgical upper eyelid lift, this treatment is less invasive, low-pain and requires no cuts or stitches.

At Dermacare, every upper eyelid lift without surgery begins with a thorough consultation. Together with our experienced specialists, you discuss your wishes and goals. Before the treatment, the eye area is locally anaesthetised to ensure a comfortable procedure. The CO2 laser then removes excess layers of skin in a targeted way and stimulates the deeper layers of the skin to regenerate. The entire procedure takes about 30 to 60 minutes.

After the treatment, it takes about 1-2 weeks for swelling and redness to subside. The final result becomes apparent after a few weeks: the skin around the eyes becomes visibly firmer, fine lines are reduced and the eyes look alert and youthful again. Thanks to the upper eyelid lift without surgery, patients can enjoy their results in the long term, without the risks and downtime of an operation.

Our experienced specialists at Dermacare rely on state-of-the-art CO2 laser technology to offer you a safe and effective treatment. The upper eyelid lift without surgery is particularly suitable for people who want a gentle, non-invasive method of rejuvenating the eye area.

For pronounced hooded eyelids, or if the field of vision is significantly impaired, Dermacare also offers the option of a surgical upper eyelid lift. This method is performed by experienced specialists and is often the best solution for advanced skin laxity.

If you are looking for a gentle and effective way to treat your hooded eyelids, the upper eyelid lift without surgery at Dermacare is the ideal choice. Arrange a no-obligation consultation and find out how you can achieve a fresh, youthful appearance without surgery.

How does the non-surgical upper eyelid lift work?

The eye area is locally anaesthetised; the treatment is considered low in pain and needs no incisions or stitches.

  1. Initial assessment

    approx. 20 min

Together with our specialists you discuss your wishes and goals. We check whether laser tightening is sufficient or whether surgery is more suitable for pronounced hooded eyelids.

  2. The treatment

    30–60 min

After local anaesthesia of the eye area, the CO2 laser specifically removes excess layers of skin and stimulates the deeper layers of skin to regenerate and to form collagen. The entire procedure takes about 30 to 60 minutes.

  3. Aftercare

    1–2 weeks

Swelling and redness subside after about 1 to 2 weeks. The final result appears after a few weeks, when the skin around the eyes looks visibly firmer.

  4. Follow-up sessions

    1–2 sessions

Several sessions can be worthwhile for an optimal result. We will discuss how many you need during the consultation and tailor them to your skin.

Frequently asked questions about upper eyelid lifting

After a detailed preliminary consultation, which takes about half an hour, the procedure is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. Including preparation, you can expect the treatment to take about an hour; the actual procedure usually takes 30 to 40 minutes.

After 5-7 days the stitches are removed at a follow-up appointment, which takes 15 minutes.

The procedure is carried out on an outpatient basis under local anaesthetic on the premises of the Dermacare institute.

As a rule, an upper eyelid lift achieves aesthetic results that are permanently effective. You will look younger and fresher and – if drooping eyelids previously restricted your vision – you will also be able to see better.

The result of a professionally performed eyelid lift lasts about 8-12 years.

Immediately after the operation it is advisable to cool the wound, as this can reduce swelling. Cooling eye masks are available in shops for this purpose. Sleeping with your upper body raised also helps to counteract swelling. Physical exertion should be avoided for at least 14 days after the procedure. When showering and washing your hair, the wound should be kept as dry as possible; eye make-up should be avoided, as should direct sunlight.

In the case of a medical indication, namely a restricted field of vision, this must be established by an ophthalmologist. With a certificate, you can apply to your health insurer for reimbursement of the costs. As a rule, health insurers reimburse up to 400 euros.

After the procedure, patients should rest for at least three days. For 2–4 weeks – depending on the type of sport – you should avoid sport, physical exertion, direct sun and saunas. Contact lenses must not be worn for at least 3 weeks.

If the healing process is normal, the upper eyelid can be made up again 10-14 days after the procedure.

During the consultation, the treating doctor will inform you individually about what you need to observe before and after the operation and will inform you comprehensively about possible risks and side effects. In general, anticoagulant or blood-thinning medication should be stopped two weeks before the surgical procedure. If taking it is medically necessary, this should be discussed with the treating doctor. Please note that many non-prescription medicines, such as cold and flu remedies and painkillers, also contain acetylsalicylic acid or acetylsalicylate and thin the blood. Vitamins C and E must also not be taken before the procedure. Before the procedure, you must have medical clearance for surgery under local anaesthetic. For aftercare, we recommend obtaining a cooling mask or cool packs from a pharmacy or drugstore.

The surgery is performed with the eye closed on the surface of the eyelid so that the eye is not affected. The experienced specialist takes care to avoid injuries. The risk is very small.

As a rule, it is possible to resume everyday life without restrictions after one week, in rare cases after two.

Eyelid surgery is one of the most frequently performed cosmetic procedures and is considered low-risk, but like any surgical procedure it carries the risk of possible complications. It is therefore all the more important to have the treatment carried out by an experienced specialist doctor who knows the risks and side effects and can respond should any occur. Your treating doctor will inform you thoroughly during the mandatory preliminary consultation. It is normal for bruising and swelling to occur after an upper eyelid lift. How quickly these disappear depends on individual wound healing and varies widely. Temporary altered sensation at the edge of the eyelid and a feeling of dryness in the eyes are also harmless after-effects of the operation. Postoperative complications such as bleeding, infection, wound healing problems or troublesome scarring are very rare; in such cases the treating doctor will decide on the further course of action. Nerve damage in the adjacent area of the face occurs very rarely. If you experience any symptoms or have any concerns, please contact us immediately.

When the upper eyelid is corrected, the incision is placed so that the scar is hidden in the natural eyelid crease. Two weeks after the procedure you may wear make-up on the eyelid again. After a few months the scar usually fades, but like any scar it should be protected from direct sunlight. We recommend using sun protection with a factor of 30 or higher for 1 year.

Direct sunlight should be avoided for at least one week. Like any scar, the scar should always be protected from direct sunlight. We recommend using sunscreen with a factor of 30 or higher.

The follow-up check after upper eyelid lifts is carried out by the treating specialist doctor.
